What is Hyde Test Surge?

Hyde Test Surge by ProSupps is a dual-action supplement that acts as a pre-workout and a testosterone booster. It comes in the form of a water-soluble powder that makes a delicious pre-workout drink to boost your energy, stamina, and overall physical & mental performance in your training.

Hyde Test Surge is a great addition to any bodybuilding stack as it promises to tackle two aspects of performance – anabolic hormones and workout efficiency.

Test Surge comes in three delicious flavors – Cherry Limeade, Pineapple Mango, and Sour Watermelon. These should satisfy even the most demanding gym goers who enjoy a good-tasting supplement.

However, even though the great taste is always a neat addition, we are far more interested in Hyde Test Surge’s formula. With that in mind, let’s see what Test Surge has to offer, whether is it any good, and if ProSupps managed to provide us with a premium supplement for strength, stamina, and performance.

Ingredients in Hyde Test Surge

Hyde Test Surge Ingredients

As far as the formula goes, one thing is for sure – ProSupps really put the effort into the formula. Test Surge’s formula contains over 15 different ingredients. You will find Caffeine, Beta Alanine, Creatine Hydrochloride, Ashwagandha, Boron, and other great compounds in Hyde Test Surge.

Also, it’s noteworthy to mention that Hyde Test Surge doesn’t contain any proprietary blends. The ingredient list is fully transparent and has no hidden dosages.

As far as the ingredient list goes, ProSupps divided Hyde Test Surge’s ingredient profile into four categories based on the ingredients’ actions. The formula consists of the so-called:

  • Strength and Power Matrix
  • Stimulant Energy Matrix
  • Iconic HaloX™ Testosterone & Stamina Matrix
  •  Focus Mood Enhancement Matrix

In addition to these, Hyde Test Surge also contains a blend of Vitamin D, Niacin, Magnesium, and Zinc.

Let’s take a closer look at the formula, and inspect each ingredient individually.

L-Citrulline 3000 mg

L-Citrulline is an amino acid. When consumed, it turns into another amino acid called L-arginine, which increases nitric oxide levels in the body.

Nitric oxide is a compound that acts as a vasodilator. In other words, it relaxes and expands blood vessels, which improves blood flow. Consequently, this has a positive effect on athletic performance and vascular health, and may even help with erectile dysfunction.

However, for athletic performance, the daily recommended dosages of L-Citruline go between 6,000 – 8,000 mg. The 3000 mg in Hyde Test Surge may be too low for noticeable performance enhancement.

Beta-Alanine 2500 mg

Beta-alanine is a great ingredient. It shows notable muscular endurance improvements in short-term high-intensity activities. This makes beta-alanine a great compound for everyone who competes in short and middle-distance running, swimming, or even martial arts.

The dosages in Hyde Test Surge match the minimum recommended dosages, so you may expect some endurance improvement from it.

Creatine Hydrochloride 1000 mg

Creatine is a well-documented supplement that has strong evidence for improving strength and power output in resistance training.

It comes in many different forms, of which the most common is Creatine Monohydrate.  On the other hand, in Hyde Test Surge, creatine comes in the form of Creatine HCL (Hydrochloride). This form is more soluble, which means it gets absorbed quicker in the body.

However, Test Surge contains way too little creatine. The recommended dosages go around 0.3 g/ kg of bodyweight, which means that a person weighing 80 kg should take around 25 g of creatine per day. The 1g in Hyde Test Surge is way below the recommended dose.

That said, some experts suggest that these lower creatine dosages are healthier, especially if you plan to take it long-term as it puts less strain on the kidneys.

Caffeine 378 mg

Caffeine is the most consumed stimulant in the world, which doesn’t surprise us since it is the main compound of coffee. It is well-studied and has many benefits, of which the most known are enhancements in physical and mental performance.

The effective dosage of caffeine depends on the individual. If you are not a regular caffeine consumer, even small dosages will be effective. On the other hand, if you are an everyday caffeine consumer, you will need much bigger dosages.

Hyde Test Surge contains a high caffeine content. To be more exact, around 378 grams of caffeine, which equals approximately 4 cups of coffee. That said, if you don’t tolerate caffeine that well, this may be an issue.

In Hyde Test Surge, caffeine comes in the form of Caffeine Anhydrous, Di-Caffeine Malate, and Caffeine Citric Acid Blend. Although these are different forms of caffeine, their effect is pretty much the same.

DIM (Diindolylmethane)250 mg

DIM is a molecule naturally found in vegetables such as broccoli, kale, and cauliflower. This healthy compound got a lot of attention due to its promising anti-cancerogenic effect.

Additionally, DIM also prevents testosterone from converting into estrogen. DIM slows down the conversion of testosterone to estrogen, and it balances hormone levels and allows optimal testosterone production.

In Hyde Test Surge, DIM comes in the dose of 250 mg, which is a good amount.

Boron 6 mg

By now, boron became a pretty standard ingredient in male health supplements. This dietary mineral, when consumed at higher dosages than you can naturally get from food, has decent testosterone-boosting properties.

Other than just testosterone enhancing effect, boron also has decent anti-inflammatory properties. Because of it, boron’s effects on reducing symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and menstrual cramps are being investigated.

Shoden® Ashwagandha 125 mg

Ashwagandha is a well-studied herb known for its numerous health benefits. It reduces stress and anxiety, boosts testosterone, and improves sperm quality.

In Hyde test Surge it comes under a patented name Shoden®, which is a standardized ashwagandha extract with at least 35% of active compound Glycowithanolides.

Teacrine® (Theacrine) 62.5 mg

Theacrine is a natural compound very similar to caffeine and has an identical stimulative effect. However, unlike caffeine, over time it doesn’t cause the body to build tolerance. That said, you can take it for a long time without losing its effect.

For now, Theacrine is still being studied so it’s hard to establish the exact dosage.

L-Theanine 50 mg

L-theanine is a compound naturally found in tea. It promotes relaxation, so it oftentimes comes hand in hand with caffeine to reduce its negative side effects. To some degree, theanine also helps with cognitive function.

However, 50 mg of theanine in Test Surge seems a little too low. The recommended dosages go around 100-200 mg, so we would much rather see it in a higher dose. Especially when you take into account Test Surges’ high caffeine amount.

Hyde Test Surge: Dosage Directions

Take one (1) scoop of Hyde Test Surge (approximately 11.2 g) and dissolve it with water.

Since Hyde Test Surge is a pre-workout, it’s best to take it 30 minutes before the workout or before any other activity where you need a boost.

Reviews and Testimonials

We checked Reddit to see what people who tried Hyde Test Surge think of it. Unsurprisingly, most users say it gives them a great boost and helps them get the most out of their workouts.

However, for a lot of people, this comes with a price. There are a lot of complaints about feeling jitters, being more irritable, anxious, or lightheaded due to Test Surge consumption. Due to the huge amount of caffeine in Test Surge, it may not be for everyone. Nonetheless, Test Surge still works great for some people.

Side Effects

Hyde Test Surge contains a large amount of caffeine and similar stimulants. People sensitive to caffeine may experience side effects such as:

  • Restlessness
  • Anxiety
  • Fast heart rate
  • Headaches, etc.

Caffeine can also negatively affect your sleep quality and sleeping schedule. With that in mind, we advise taking Hyde Test Surge earlier in the day, at least 6 hours before bedtime.

Test Surge also contains beta-alanine that may cause a tingling sensation called paresthesia. Although this may not be harmful, it can be uncomfortable and annoying for some people.

Cost, Where to Buy, and Other Things to Consider

On the official ProSupps website, a single 30-serving bottle of Hyde Test Surge sells for $44.99. If you buy 2 or more bottles, you get an additional -15% discount. Other than the official website, Test Surge can be purchased online on Amazon, iHerb, GNC, and similar supplement retailers.

In its assortment, ProSupps also has Mr. Hyde NitroX, a pre-workout similar to Test Surge but with higher caffeine content, and Dr. Jekyll, a stimulant-free pre-workout. Between these, Hyde Test Surge is our favorite option as it may be the most effective in terms of boosting your testosterone. NitroX is less focused on the testosterone aspect, but it could be more effective at boosting your workout performance.

Hyde Test Surge Review: The Bottom Line

Although Hyde Test Surge tries to label itself as a testosterone booster, it’s pretty obvious that ProSupps put more effort into making it a great pre-workout supplement than a good testosterone booster. And to be honest, Test Surge has done a pretty good job at it.

It contains decent pre-workout ingredients with good dosages. Whether the stimulant-rich formula will suit you, we cannot tell for sure. However, if you tolerate stimulants well, Test Surge should help you get more out of your workouts.

As far as the testosterone boosting formula goes, don’t expect wonders. Indeed, Test Surge contains some good ingredients such as Boron, DIM, and Ashwagandha. As such, it may be beneficial to a degree. However, in our opinion, Test Surge cannot compete with supplements that are specifically made for increasing testosterone levels.

So if you’re looking for proper testosterone enhancement, we recommend checking other options first. But all-in-all, Hyde Test Surge is a good supplement.
